Why I Have Lost All Faith In Bonnaroo

When I first saw the lineup for Bonnaroo I thought that they hadn't announced the headlining acts yet. Besides the Flaming Lips, this year's lineup is pretty much a crock of shit.

I was still contemplating purchasing a ticket, thinking that maybe they couldn't get Pavement or My Morning Jacket because of touring conflicts. Boy was I wrong.

Today the lineup for the Sasquatch! Music and Arts Festival announced their lineup. Check it out via Pitchfork:

HOLY SHIT! Not only did Sasquatch! get the only good acts that Bonnaroo has (The National, Japandroids, LCD Soundsystem), but they got everyone that I wanted to see at Roo (Pavement, My Morning Jacket, Broken Social Scene, Kid Cudi).

I was still considering making the trek down to Tennessee for Bonnaroo until the Sasquatch! lineup got announced. I thought maybe Bonnaroo was simply having scheduling difficulties. Nope.

All the sweet bands that Bonnaroo could have booked are playing at Sasquatch! a week before Roo. Both My Morning Jacket and Pavement have gaps in their touring schedules that fall right in line with when Bonnaroo is taking place this year. WHY DIDN'T BONNAROO BOOK THEM!?

I think I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm not going to drop $500 (ticket plus gas plus food) to go see a half assed lineup at Bonnaroo this year. I may not end up at a festival this summer, but I will see Pavement at some point. It's going to happen.
